VisitStanton's 446-Foot Homer Ties Game; Yankees Slugger Passes Babe Ruth in Postseason Homers
Oct 20, 2024, 02:04 AM
New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit a game-tying two-run home run in the sixth inning of Game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians. The 117.5 mph, 446-foot blast came off an 0-2 slider from Cleveland pitcher Tanner Bibee, knotting the game at 2-2. This home run marked Stanton's third consecutive game with a homer and his fourth of the series. With this blast, Stanton surpassed Babe Ruth to claim the fourth-most postseason home runs in Yankees history, totaling 16 in just 36 playoff games—the most by any player in that span. Remarkably, all eight of Stanton's career postseason hits in Cleveland have been home runs. Stanton also owns four of the eight hardest-hit postseason home runs in the Statcast era.
