VisitSpyware App pcTattletale Hacked, Shuts Down After 100GB Data Breach Exposing 139k Emails
May 28, 2024, 03:38 PM
Spyware app pcTattletale was hacked, leading to the defacement of its website and the exposure of approximately 100GB of internal data, including 139,000 email addresses, infected device information, SMS messages, and MD5 hashed passwords. The breach occurred shortly after reports surfaced that the spyware was found on check-in computers at several U.S. hotels. Following the breach, pcTattletale announced it is shutting down and is now 'out of business.' Bryan Fleming, the founder of pcTattletale, stated that he no longer has access to the company's AWS account, which stored terabytes of victim data. TechCrunch reported that 58% of the breached data was already in the 'Have I Been Pwned' database.
