VisitSpaceX's Starlink to Surpass 4 Million Subscribers This Week, Says Gwynne Shotwell
Sep 26, 2024, 10:00 PM
SpaceX's Starlink is set to surpass 4 million subscribers this week, marking a significant milestone in its rapid growth. The satellite internet service, which launched its first satellites in 2019, has expanded its user base from 1 million in December 2022 to 4 million in September 2024. This growth has been driven by the addition of approximately 7,700 new customers daily over the past four months. Starlink now operates in over 100 countries, providing high-speed internet to underserved areas. In response to this demand, SpaceX is expanding its production facility in Bastrop, Texas, which will become the largest printed circuit board manufacturing facility in the United States. The facility aims to outpace Southeast Asia in production efficiency. Gwynne Shotwell, President of SpaceX, noted that Starlink had 3 million subscribers in May 2024.
