Sep 15, 2024, 12:32 AM
The crew aboard SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission has successfully completed the world’s first commercial spacewalk, also known as an extravehicular activity, from the Dragon capsule at an altitude of 732.2 km above Earth. Led by American billionaire Jared Isaacman, the mission included notable participants such as Sarah Gillis, who also performed a musical piece in space. The crew's five-day mission involved 40 science and research experiments, including testing Starlink’s laser-powered internet. The mission concluded with a splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico near Florida's Dry Tortugas. This historic achievement marks a significant milestone in private space exploration, being the farthest humans have traveled from Earth in over 50 years.
