South Korea's foreign ministry has summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul, Georgy Zinoviev, in protest over the alleged deployment of North Korean troops to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine. The ministry has called for the immediate withdrawal of these troops and pledged a joint international response. The action follows confirmation from South Korea's intelligence agency regarding the deployment. First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun conveyed South Korea's serious position to the Russian envoy. The Yonhap news agency reported that South Korea protested Moscow's war effort.
