South Korea has ordered Facebook owner Meta to pay 21.62 billion won ($15.67 million) in fines after finding it had illegally collected sensitive user data and shared it with advertisers without a legal basis. The data included information on religion, political views, and sexuality from approximately 980,000 South Korean Facebook users. Seoul's data protection agency conducted a four-year probe before issuing the fine.
