VisitSouth Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace Files Motion to Impeach Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Vote in 48 Hours
Jul 23, 2024, 01:35 AM
Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina has filed a privileged motion to impeach U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. The motion, which will force a vote within the next 48 hours, is in response to security failures surrounding a Trump rally and an assassination attempt. GOP leaders will be required to schedule a vote on the resolution within two legislative days. This marks a significant move as it is the first time in history the House has voted to impeach a civil officer. Cheatle is being impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors.
