Sony Group, in collaboration with Startale Labs, has announced the launch of Soneium, a new public Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain network. This initiative, developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, aims to enhance scalability and mainstream adoption of blockchain technology and accelerate Web3 innovation. Soneium utilizes Optimism's OP Stack technology and integrates Chainlink as its canonical cross-chain infrastructure and launch partner. The network is designed to support applications across various sectors, including gaming, finance, and entertainment, and aims to integrate blockchain into Sony's consumer products over the next two years. The testnet is expected to launch soon, featuring partnerships with Astar Network and other key players in the blockchain space.
