VisitSony Ends Spider-Man Universe as 'Kraven the Hunter' Flops with 9% Rotten Tomatoes Score
Dec 11, 2024, 08:03 PM
Sony Pictures is reportedly ending its Spider-Man Universe following the critical failure of 'Kraven the Hunter', the final installment in its live-action Spider-Man franchise. The film, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and directed by J.C. Chandor, has been met with overwhelmingly negative reviews. Its Rotten Tomatoes score dropped to 9% based on 23 reviews, with critics describing it as 'punishingly dull', 'derivative', and 'embarrassing'. Previous films in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, such as 'Venom' and 'Morbius', were also universally panned. 'Kraven the Hunter' is projected for a dismal opening weekend, possibly worse than the underperforming 'Madame Web'. In response, Sony is reportedly shifting its focus away from Spider-Man spinoff movies. The studio will instead concentrate on 'Spider-Man 4' within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), 'Beyond the Spider-Verse', and a live-action 'Spider-Noir' series featuring Nicolas Cage.
