Slovak PM Robert Fico in Critical Condition After Handlova Shooting, Suspect Detained

Slovakia's populist Prime Minister Robert Fico, 59, was injured in a shooting on Wednesday afternoon and taken to the hospital. The incident occurred in the town of Handlova, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of the capital Bratislava. Reports indicate that four shots were fired, with one hitting Fico in the abdomen. A suspect has been detained, and Fico is currently in critical condition. The Slovak interior ministry has described the event as an assassination attempt.
