VisitSix, Including Rohingya Refugees, Killed in Cox’s Bazar Landslides
Sep 13, 2024, 09:49 AM
At least six people, including three Rohingya refugees, have been killed and several others injured due to separate landslides triggered by heavy rains in southeastern Bangladesh. The landslides occurred in the Cox’s Bazar district, affecting overcrowded refugee camps where shelters are made of bamboo and tarpaulin. Among the victims, three were members of the same family who died in Ukhiya. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) teams are actively relocating the most vulnerable, assessing damages, and delivering urgent humanitarian aid. The monsoon season has led to constant rain, causing flooding and landslides in the region.
