VisitSinn Féin Achieves Historic Win as Largest Northern Ireland Party at Westminster
Jul 5, 2024, 06:55 AM
Sinn Féin has emerged as the largest party from Northern Ireland at Westminster, marking a historic achievement as they now lead in local, Stormont, and Westminster elections. The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) has faced significant losses, including losing seats to the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) and the Alliance Party. Notably, Ian Paisley Jnr, son of the DUP's founder, lost his seat which has been held by the Paisley family since 1970. This defeat is described as 'bigger than seismic' for the DUP. There are still two more seats to declare in Northern Ireland, but the DUP cannot surpass Sinn Féin.
