Jul 25, 2024, 11:57 PM
Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, the co-founder and leader of Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel, has been arrested by the FBI in El Paso, Texas. Zambada, one of Mexico's most powerful and elusive drug lords, was apprehended during a sting operation at a private airport in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The DEA had offered a $15 million reward for his capture. Alongside Zambada, Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of the notorious drug lord Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, was also detained. Both men are now in U.S. custody and face multiple charges related to drug trafficking and the fentanyl crisis in the United States. The arrests have been confirmed by U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.
