VisitSidney Crosby Becomes 21st NHL Player to Reach 600 Goals Against Utah
Nov 24, 2024, 01:16 AM
Sidney Crosby reached a significant milestone on Saturday night, becoming the 21st player in NHL history to score 600 career goals. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain achieved the feat during the second period against the Utah Hockey Club at home in Pittsburgh. Upon his scoring, the Penguins' bench emptied to celebrate the landmark goal. Crosby is only the second active player to reach the 600-goal mark, joining Washington Capitals' Alex Ovechkin. He is also the second player in Penguins history to score 600 goals with the franchise, alongside Mario Lemieux, and only the seventh NHL player to achieve 600 goals with one team. Crosby's 600th goal is his first against the Utah Hockey Club. He expressed his satisfaction with the achievement, stating during the intermission, "It's special. I was happy to see it go in." Known as "Sid the Kid," Crosby is also aiming to break a tie with Wayne Gretzky by recording a 20th consecutive season averaging at least a point per game.
