Sheikh Hasina Faces Mass Murder Charges Over 2013 Rally in Bangladesh

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is facing multiple legal challenges as new cases have been filed against her. An application was submitted to a Bangladesh court on August 18 to register a case against Hasina and 33 others, accusing them of mass murder during a 2013 rally organized by Hefazat-e-Islam. Additionally, she has been named in three more cases for her alleged involvement in directing an attack on Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Khaleda Zia in 2015. Another murder case was filed against her over the death of two college students during recent anti-quota protests, including a student's death on August 4. These legal actions mark a significant escalation in the political and legal challenges faced by the deposed leader.
