VisitSHA to Refund Patients Who Paid After September 30 Due to System Failures
Oct 6, 2024, 11:55 AM
Kenya's State Health Authority (SHA) announced that it will refund patients who paid medical expenses out of pocket due to its system failures. Chairman Abdi Mohamed stated on Sunday that "only those who spent their money after midnight on September 30, 2024, are eligible for the refunds," and urged affected individuals to contact the authority. SHA has deployed staff to all facilities to ensure that patients can access healthcare seamlessly and has provided a toll-free number for those who encounter challenges. Director of Corporate Services, SHA, Ibrahim Alio, mentioned that they have followed up with James, an elderly man from Nakuru who was featured on television expressing distress over lack of access to hospital services. SHA will refund the Ksh.9,500 he paid to the facility and ensure he faces no further issues in accessing care.
