VisitSecret Service Confirms No Changes to RNC Security Plans in Milwaukee Despite Trump Assassination Attempt
Jul 14, 2024, 09:02 PM
The U.S. Secret Service has announced that there will be no changes to the security plans for the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, despite a recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The Secret Service RNC Coordinator confirmed that they are confident in the existing security measures and are not anticipating any changes, including to the perimeter security. FBI Special Agent in Charge, Milwaukee, Hensle, also stated that there are no known threats against the convention or its attendees. Governor Evers had requested barring firearms in the 'soft perimeter' around the convention, but this has not been considered for policy change. The announcement was made during a Secret Service briefing, with AP as a source.
