VisitSEC Approves Options Trading on Spot Bitcoin ETFs Including Grayscale and Fidelity
Oct 18, 2024, 09:21 PM
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) to list options for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), following earlier approval for the Nasdaq Exchange. This decision allows options trading on multiple spot Bitcoin ETFs, including the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust (BTC), and funds offered by major firms such as Fidelity, ARK Invest, Invesco Galaxy, VanEck, Bitwise, and BlackRock. The move is expected to boost liquidity, enhance market confidence, and provide investors with additional strategies for exposure to Bitcoin within traditional financial markets, marking another step toward the further financialization of Bitcoin and the crypto asset class.
