VisitSC Transfers Isha Foundation Case from Madras HC, Orders "No Coercive Action"
Oct 3, 2024, 06:26 AM
The Supreme Court of India has taken over a case involving allegations of illegal confinement at Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation, an NGO currently under pressure. The case, initially filed by the father of two women, claims his daughters are being held against their will at the foundation. The daughters assert they are residing there voluntarily. Supreme Court justices went into chambers to interact with the two women via video conferencing in order to ascertain the facts. The court has sought further details and reports, including on police involvement at the Isha Foundation. Additionally, the Supreme Court ordered that "no coercive action be taken" and transferred the case from the Madras High Court.
