Dec 21, 2024, 12:46 AM
A car plowed into a crowded Christmas market in the eastern German city of Magdeburg on Friday evening around 7:40 PM, killing at least two people, including a young child, and injuring 68 others, with 15 in serious condition, local authorities said. The vehicle reportedly drove for about 400 meters through the market. The driver, identified as a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian doctor who has been residing in Germany since 2006, was arrested at the scene. German officials are investigating the incident as a possible terrorist attack. Saxony-Anhalt's state premier, Reiner Haseloff, confirmed the casualties and warned that the death toll could rise due to the severity of injuries sustained by some victims.
