Saudi Arabia's Prince Faisal Urges Lifting of Sanctions on Syria at Riyadh Meeting

Saudi Arabia has called for the lifting of international sanctions on Syria, a move aimed at facilitating the country's development and reconstruction. This appeal was made by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan at the conclusion of a meeting in Riyadh involving diplomats from the Middle East and Europe. The discussions focused on Syria's future following the ousting of former President Bashar Assad. Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the importance of removing both unilateral and international sanctions, arguing that their continuation would hinder the Syrian people's aspirations for development. The meeting in Riyadh also saw participation from representatives of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, the European Union, the United Nations, and the Arab League, as well as from neighboring countries including Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey.
