VisitSaquon Barkley's 70-Yard TD, 143 Yards Propel Eagles; 1,280 Yards Most Since 2014
Nov 25, 2024, 03:09 AM
On Sunday night, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley delivered a stunning performance against the Los Angeles Rams, breaking for a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second half. This explosive play extended the Eagles' lead to 20-7. Barkley amassed 143 rushing yards on just 14 carries at that point in the game, bringing his season total to 1,280 yards—just 32 yards shy of his career high. This total is the most rushing yards by any player in the first 11 games since DeMarco Murray's 1,354 yards in 2014. Barkley, at age 27, appears to be getting even faster, and his performance has fueled discussions of him being a contender for the NFL Most Valuable Player award. He has accumulated 1,506 total yards this season. Remarkably, he has recorded seven 100-yard games this season, one away from tying the Eagles' single-season record held by Wilbert Montgomery.
