San Francisco has launched a $5 million managed alcohol program aimed at providing homeless alcoholics with housing, meals, and controlled quantities of alcohol. The program, which includes activities such as crafts and outings to Giants games, offers participants 1-2 drinks three to four times a day, including options like a shot of vodka or liquor, a glass of wine, or three-quarters of a pint of beer. The initiative, funded by taxpayers, does not require participants to reduce their alcohol consumption but claims to improve their health.
