VisitSan Diego Cracks Down on Unpermitted Beach Yoga Classes of 17 Years
May 21, 2024, 03:11 AM
San Diego is enforcing a municipal code revision that prohibits groups larger than four from convening in public spaces for commercial recreational activities without a permit. This crackdown has led to park rangers shutting down free beachside yoga classes, prompting some yoga teachers to threaten legal action. One yoga instructor, known as 'Nama Steve', has resorted to live-streaming his classes from his backyard in Pacific Beach in an act of civil disobedience to Mayor @ToddGloria. 'Nama Steve' has been conducting these classes for 17 years. The City Council is set to consider an ordinance change on Thursday to address the situation.
