Salt Lake City Council Unanimously Approves Downtown Revitalization Plan with Smith Entertainment Group, 0.5% Sales Tax

Salt Lake City Council has unanimously approved a partnership agreement with Smith Entertainment Group to revitalize the downtown area. The agreement, which involves a slight sales tax increase of 0.5%, will fund the development of a new sports and entertainment district. This initiative, described as a mission-driven project by Mike Maughan of Smith Entertainment Group, aims to have a lasting positive impact on the community. The revitalization plan, known as the Capital City Revitalization Zone, is now set to be sent to the state for approval. The owners of the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club are key stakeholders in this project.
