VisitRyan Garcia Suspended for One Year, Forfeits $1.1M Purse, Haney Fight Ruled No Contest
Jun 20, 2024, 10:09 PM
Ryan Garcia has announced his retirement from boxing following a settlement with the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) over failed drug tests. Garcia tested positive for the banned substance ostarine after his fight with Devin Haney on April 20. As part of the settlement, Garcia has been suspended for one year, fined $10,000, and forfeited his $1.1 million fight purse to Golden Boy Promotions. The decision victory over Haney has been overturned to a no contest, restoring Haney's undefeated record to 31-0. Garcia's record now stands at 24-1. Despite the ban, Garcia has expressed intentions to return to boxing after the suspension period.
