Jun 7, 2024, 09:57 PM
Ryan Blaney topped the charts in the NASCAR Cup Series practice at Sonoma Raceway, setting a lap time of 73.2 seconds, which is 4.5 seconds faster than last year's pole time. Blaney was followed by Ty Gibbs, Will Brown, Alex Bowman, and Chase Elliott in the top five. Notably, 23 cars practiced faster than the previous track record at Sonoma. Daniel Hemric, although the slowest in practice, was still two seconds faster than last year's pole speed. Blaney, the defending champion, expressed satisfaction with his car, calling it a 'good racecar.' Dillon, Larson, and Gragson were also mentioned in the top positions earlier in the session. Chastain was fastest in the 10-lap average.
