Unit 29155 of Russia’s GRU military intelligence agency, known for coup attempts, assassinations, and bombings, has expanded its operations to include offensive cyber activities. The group, also known as Cadet Blizzard, has been linked to hacking operations targeting critical infrastructure globally, including in Ukraine, the US, and NATO countries. The UK, alongside nine international allies, has publicly identified the unit as responsible for a series of cyber attacks and digital sabotage. Britain's National Cyber Security Centre confirmed the unit's involvement in offensive cyber operations, including the attempted murder of Sergei Skripal and the Salisbury poisoning incident. Intelligence agencies, the FBI/DOJ, and the Estonian Security Police have revealed that the unit has been active since 2020.
