Russian Tu-22M3 Pilot Dmitry Golenkov Assassinated in Bryansk

Dmitry Golenkov, a Russian pilot and chief of staff of the 52nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment based at Shaykovka airbase, has been assassinated in Suponevo near Bryansk. Golenkov, who piloted a Tu-22M3, was involved in multiple missile strikes on Ukrainian civilian targets, including the Amstor shopping center in Kremenchuk in June 2022. The Ukrainian Defense Intelligence (GUR) claims responsibility for the assassination, stating that Golenkov was killed by recruited agents using a hammer. His body was found with severe head injuries.
