Russian Eight-Hour Drone Barrage Hits Kyiv Overnight, 74 of 106 Drones Downed

Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Kyiv overnight, lasting eight hours and targeting residential buildings and civilian areas. The attack involved 106 Shahed-type drones, including Shahed-136/Geran-2 long-range attack drones supplied by Iran. Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 74 drones, and an additional 25 were taken down by electronic warfare measures. Debris from downed drones fell on residential areas in six Kyiv districts, including the Pechersk district, causing fires and damage to buildings. At least two people were wounded, and residents were evacuated from affected areas. The drones flew at very low altitudes, complicating interception efforts. Kyiv residents sheltered in metro stations during the attack. This drone barrage marks one of the largest on the Ukrainian capital as the war approaches 1,000 days.
