VisitRussian Drones with Shrapnel Strike Sumy Today, First Recorded Use
Nov 22, 2024, 08:46 AM
In an increasing shift toward obtaining higher civilian casualties, drones used by the Russians to strike Ukraine's Sumy region today were equipped with shrapnel, according to the Regional Military Administration. The Shahed drones, also known as Geran-2, were reported to have new warheads with tungsten shrapnel balls. This type of weapon is designed to kill people rather than destroy objects, marking its first recorded use in Sumy. Volodymyr Artyukh, the head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration (OVA), confirmed the use of these anti-personnel munitions on civilian targets, labeling it as an act of terrorism.
