Russian-American journalist Alsu Kurmasheva has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison by a Russian court for spreading 'fakes' about the army. The conviction followed a rapid, secret trial, according to court records. Kurmasheva, who worked for Radio Liberty, was detained on October 18 while trying to return to the Czech Republic, where she lived in Prague, after traveling to Russia on personal business.
