Russia to Impose Media Restrictions Over US Sanctions on Rossiya Segodnya and RT

Russia is preparing retaliatory measures in response to US sanctions on the Rossiya Segodnya media group, the parent company of Sputnik. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that restrictions on US media in Russia will be implemented. Peskov emphasized that the US actions amount to unacceptable pressure aimed at shutting down Russian viewpoints. He also mentioned that Russia must have 'total freedom of information' after the war in Ukraine ends, and acknowledged that restrictions and censorship are justified during wartime. The TASS news agency cited Peskov's remarks, and the Kremlin specifically mentioned restrictions on US media over RT.
