VisitRussia Mass-Producing 'KUB-M' Mobile Nuclear Shelters Protecting Against Radiation and Shockwaves
Nov 19, 2024, 12:00 PM
Russia has commenced mass production of the 'KUB-M' mobile bomb shelters, designed to protect against nuclear radiation, shockwaves, and other man-made threats and natural disasters, according to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations' research institute. The shelters resemble reinforced shipping containers and consist of two modules—a technical module and a module for people—and can accommodate 54 individuals, expandable to up to 150 with additional modules. They offer protection for up to 48 hours from the light radiation of nuclear explosions and radioactive contamination of the area. The production is taking place in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region, marking the first time such mobile shelters have been produced in Russia.
