VisitRussia Launches Non-Nuclear ICBM from Astrakhan Region at Dnipro, Ukraine Reports First Use in Conflict
Nov 21, 2024, 07:41 AM
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched a non-nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Astrakhan region toward the city of Dnipro on Thursday morning, marking the first use of such weaponry in the conflict. In addition to the ICBM, Russia also fired a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted and shot down six of the seven cruise missiles but were unable to intercept the non-nuclear ICBM and the Kinzhal missile. The Ukrainian Air Force did not specify which type of ICBM was used. There were reportedly no significant consequences from the attack.
