Russia and Iran to Sign Updated Partnership Agreement Soon, Including Defence Cooperation

Russia and Iran are set to sign an updated partnership agreement soon, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The treaty will strengthen the 20-year cooperation between the two nations, focusing on reducing reliance on the U.S. dollar in international trade, particularly with key partners like China. Lavrov emphasized that the agreement will include closer defence cooperation and aims to enhance peace and security at regional and global levels. Additionally, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to visit Moscow before the end of the year to formalize the treaty.
