Russia launched a massive missile and drone assault on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on November 28, causing widespread power outages across the country, according to Ukrainian officials. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko stated that Russia struck a 'massive blow' at the nation's power grid, with attacks occurring throughout Ukraine. The assault involved 90 missiles and 100 drones, targeting critical infrastructure. Ukrainian authorities reported that their air defense forces shot down 114 aerial targets, including 76 Kh-101 and Kalibr cruise missiles, 3 Kh-59 guided air missiles, and 35 Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles. Explosions were reported in multiple regions, including Kyiv, Lutsk, Rivne, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Sumy, Odesa, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, and the Dnipropetrovsk region. Emergency power outages have been implemented, leaving more than one million people without electricity in western regions such as Lviv, Rivne, Volyn, and Khmelnytskyi. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of using cluster munitions against the energy infrastructure. This assault marks the second large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy facilities this month.
