VisitRussia Fines Google $20 Decillion, Threatens Ban Over YouTube Blocks
Oct 30, 2024, 12:42 PM
A Russian court has fined Google 2 undecillion rubles ($20 decillion) for failing to restore access to 17 Russian state media channels on YouTube. The unprecedented fine, which carries 36 zeros, amounts to more than all the wealth on Earth. The fines originated from a 2020 lawsuit and have been doubling weekly due to Google's noncompliance. Russian authorities have warned that Google may be blocked entirely in Russia if it continues to ignore the demands.
