Dec 18, 2024, 06:52 AM
Russian authorities have detained two suspects in connection with the assassination of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia's Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, in Moscow. One of the suspects, a 29-year-old Uzbek citizen born in 1995, was identified through surveillance camera footage. He allegedly admitted to being recruited by Ukrainian special services, who promised him $100,000 and relocation to the European Union. The suspect confessed to placing an explosive device on an electric scooter near Kirillov's residence, following instructions from Ukrainian intelligence. The attack, described by authorities as a terrorist act, resulted in the deaths of General Kirillov and his aide Ilya Polikarpov. The Federal Security Service (FSB) released footage of the suspect's interrogation.
