VisitRussia Claims Ukraine Used Nine Drones to Attack TurkStream's Russkaya Station, No Supply Disruptions
Jan 13, 2025, 10:17 AM
Russia has accused Ukraine of attempting to attack the TurkStream gas pipeline's compressor station with nine drones on January 11. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the attack targeted the Russkaya compressor station in the Krasnodar region, aiming to disrupt gas supplies to European countries. All drones were reportedly shot down, with minor damage to a building and equipment at the gas measuring station due to falling debris. No casualties were reported. The ministry confirmed that the station continues to operate normally, and there have been no disruptions to gas supply. Gazprom's emergency response teams promptly addressed the damage, and the equipment was restored. The TurkStream pipeline, which runs under the Black Sea from Russia to Turkey and then into Europe, is crucial as it is the last active pipeline delivering Russian gas to the continent following the cessation of gas transit through Ukraine on January 1.
