Nov 13, 2024, 07:32 AM
On Wednesday morning, Russia launched a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv, Ukraine, marking the first such assault on the capital in 73 days. The attack involved various types of missiles, including Kh-101 cruise missiles and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Tu-95 strategic bombers over the Caspian Sea, as well as approximately 90 Shahed, Geranium, Gerbera, and Parody drones. Ukrainian air defense forces responded effectively, intercepting several cruise and ballistic missiles and downing 84 of the 90 drones, with 47 drones destroyed by electronic warfare systems. The attack lasted more than three hours, with explosions heard throughout Kyiv during the morning rush hour, causing residents to seek shelter in metro stations. At least 15 people were injured, and fires were reported in the city.
