Jan 25, 2025, 05:24 PM
A drone attack on the Saudi Hospital, one of the last functioning hospitals in El Fasher, North Darfur, Sudan, has resulted in over 70 deaths and 19 injuries. The attack, attributed to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), targeted the hospital's emergency department, which was completely destroyed. The victims included patients, women, and children, and the hospital was packed with patients at the time of the strike. This incident is part of the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which has devastated the Darfur region since April 2023. The war has displaced millions, left healthcare facilities in ruins, and created a severe humanitarian crisis. The Saudi Hospital was previously the only public hospital in the area with surgical capacity. Darfur Governor Minni Minawi condemned the attack, highlighting the worsening plight of civilians in the region.
