VisitRoyal Navy's HMS Medway Saves Six Rare Turtles, Releases Them Off Azores
Sep 28, 2024, 10:03 AM
Royal Navy sailors have successfully returned six rare loggerhead turtles to the wild after they were found washed up on UK shores. The turtles, which were found in the south west of England, were transported by the Portsmouth-based patrol vessel HMS Medway. The turtles were released off the coast of the Azores, with the mission being part of the ship's return journey to the Caribbean. The turtles were described as 'weak' when found and were embarked at Devonport before their release.
