Ron Ely, the actor best known for portraying Tarzan in the original 1960s NBC television series, has died at the age of 86. Ely's daughter confirmed his passing, although the cause of death has not been disclosed. Ely starred in the iconic series, which aired from 1966 to 1968, and was noted for his physicality and charm in the role. He had previously expressed relief when the series concluded, citing physical exhaustion from the demanding role, which led to numerous injuries. Ely's death comes five years after the tragic deaths of his wife and son. He passed away at the home of one of his daughters in Santa Barbara, California.
