VisitRepublicans Demand FCC Explain Soros-Linked Acquisition of 200+ Radio Stations Ahead of 2024 Election
Oct 7, 2024, 08:32 PM
Republican lawmakers, including House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and over 40 GOP colleagues, are demanding answers from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding its decision to approve a Soros-linked fund's acquisition of more than 200 local radio stations owned by Audacy without a national security review. The FCC's Democratic commissioners are being accused of fast-tracking the transaction, which critics argue could have significant implications ahead of the 2024 presidential election. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr and commentator Mark Levin have expressed concerns over the waiver of regular procedures for a transaction of this magnitude, with McMorris Rodgers stating, "It is highly concerning that the FCC did not follow regular order for a transaction of this magnitude." A second House committee, led by Rep. James Comer, is also investigating the matter.
