The resolution was advanced by House Republicans, who have accused Garland of defying subpoenas and obstructing their investigation. This marks Garland as the third attorney general in U.S. history to be held in contempt of Congress. Speaker Johnson stated, 'We can’t allow the Department of Justice and Executive Branch hide information from Congress.'
