VisitRep. Nancy Mace Reports Assault by Pro-Trans Activist James McIntyre; Suspect Arrested
Dec 11, 2024, 06:14 PM
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) reported that she was physically accosted on Tuesday evening by a pro-transgender rights activist named James McIntyre in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. McIntyre, a 33-year-old from Illinois, was arrested by Capitol Police. According to Mace, he grabbed her hand, aggressively tightened his grip, and shook her by the arm. She shared on X (formerly Twitter), 'I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-trans man. One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it'll heal just fine.' Mace appeared at the Capitol the following day wearing a brace on her arm. The incident is believed to be connected to her efforts leading transgender policy initiatives, including blocking the chamber's first openly transgender member from using women's bathrooms. However, individuals who reportedly witnessed the interaction are telling a different story, and a foster advocacy group has denied that the arrested member assaulted Mace. The suspect is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
