On December 18, 2024, Red Bull Racing announced that Mexican Formula One driver Sergio Pérez, 34, will depart the team after four seasons. Despite having a contract until 2026, Pérez and Red Bull have mutually agreed to part ways following the 2024 season. Pérez, who joined Red Bull in 2021, achieved five victories and 29 podiums with the team, contributing to two Constructors' Championship titles. He expressed gratitude for his time with Red Bull, stating, "I am incredibly grateful for the four years with Red Bull Racing." Max Verstappen, his teammate, said, "It has been an absolute pleasure to drive alongside you." Liam Lawson of New Zealand is expected to replace Pérez starting in the 2025 season.
