VisitQinwen Zheng Wins Historic Olympic Gold, First Asian-Born Champion
Aug 3, 2024, 04:23 PM
Qinwen Zheng has made history by becoming the first Chinese player to win an Olympic gold medal in singles tennis. She achieved this milestone at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, marking a significant moment for China in the sport. Zheng is also the first Asian-born player to win a gold medal in either the Women’s or Men’s Singles at the Olympics since tennis was included in the modern Olympic Games in 1896. Additionally, she is the second player to win the Women’s Singles gold medal on clay since the sport returned to the Olympic program in 1988, following Jennifer Capriati's victory in 1992. This victory is a historic achievement for Zheng and her country.
