Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted a draft bill to the State Duma for the ratification of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and North Korea (DPRK). The treaty, signed on June 19 during Putin's visit to Pyongyang, includes provisions for mutual military assistance in the event of an attack on either country. Kremlin officials confirmed that the agreement ensures strategic cooperation in all areas, including security. Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko reiterated the mutual military assistance clause.
